MLA from Patiala Urban Ajitpal Singh Kohli has said in a press conference that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is giving priority to the welfare of sanitation workers and continuous efforts are being made to resolve their legitimate demands. He said that sanitation workers are the backbone of the society and there can be no alternative to their contribution.
MLA Kohli said that the government is also committed to paying salary to class IV employees on the first date of every month and to regularizing the raw employees by abolishing the contract system. He appealed to the sanitation workers unions and the city residents to cooperate with the Punjab government in this campaign of public welfare and development.
In this regard, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, during the press conference, appealed to the sanitation workers unions to cooperate with the Punjab government and said that the government is seriously considering their long-pending demands so that all the problems can be resolved in a proper and permanent manner. He said that the government believes in resolving every issue through dialogue and the interests of the employees will be fully protected.
MLA Kohli said that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in the year 2022, many historic decisions have been taken keeping public welfare at the center. In the education sector, teachers have been trained abroad, while in the health sector, free medicines and better treatment facilities have been ensured in government hospitals. A new ICU and a special ward for newborns have also been established in Rajindra Hospital.
He said that steps taken by the Punjab government like providing free electricity up to 600 units, closing of toll plazas, door-to-door delivery of ration and improvement in drinking water facilities are directly benefiting the people. Work is underway to ensure 24-hour water supply in areas where there was a water problem.
He said that the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme is getting a huge response from the people. Apart from Darbar Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Wagah Border and Ram Tirath, now buses are also being run for Haridwar, Rishikesh, Vrindavan and Khatu Shyam. Three buses leave from the city every day and the entire travel expenses are being borne by the Punjab government.
He said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is working with full commitment for the rights, respect and welfare of sanitation workers and in the future also their legitimate demands will be fulfilled on priority basis. Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia was also present on the occasion.
