LUDHIANA: A major tragedy was averted in the city’s Hargobind Nagar late last night when alert neighbors risked their lives to rescue a family trapped inside a burning building.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of a flour mill situated on the heavily populated Nila Jhanda Road. It spread rapidly, sending thick smoke and flames directly to the first floor where the mill owner’s family lay asleep. Woken by the heat and smoke, the family screamed for help.
Hearing their cries, local residents rushed to the scene. Acting quickly and bravely, the neighbors managed to pull all family members out of the structure to safety. Fire tenders arrived shortly after and battled the flames for several hours. Officials confirm that no injuries were reported, praising the timely intervention of the community.
