In a major initiative to bring administrative justice directly to the doorsteps of citizens, Member of the Punjab State and Chandigarh (UT) Human Rights Commission (PSHRC), Jitender Singh Shunty, will undertake a comprehensive visit to Sangrur district on Sunday, August 2, 2026, to conduct special Open Hearing Camp Sitting.
The camp at Bhawanigarh will be organized from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Heritage Public School. Emphasizing the core objective of the Commission-to ensure that no citizen is deprived of basic human rights and dignity-the Member has issued a heartfelt appeal to the general public, local residents, civil society organizations, and victims of human rights violations to attend the open hearing in large numbers.
“The Punjab State Human Rights Commission is committed to delivering swift, transparent, and accessible justice. These open hearing camps are specially designed so that ordinary citizens do not have to travel to Chandigarh to raise their concerns. I encourage every citizen, local Sarpanch, social worker, and NGO representative to participate actively and bring forward genuine grievances or issues of public welfare so that immediate legal and administrative relief can be initiated,” said Shunty.
Citizens facing issues related to police apathy, administrative delays, denial of fundamental rights, medical negligence, or social injustice can submit written complaints directly to the Member and Commission officials at the venue.
Panches, Sarpanches, NGO representatives, and social activists are also invited to discuss community-level human rights concerns and join hands in strengthening human rights protection mechanisms across the district.
Officials from the local administration, the police department, various district departments and district level core members of the commission will be present on-site to facilitate the immediate review of complaints received during the camps.
