Preparations for the state-level function being organized on July 31 at Dana Mandi, Sunam Udham Singh Wala dedicated to the martyrdom day of the great Shaheed Udham Singh have now reached the final stage. In order to conduct the function smoothly, effectively and in a memorable manner, Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Poonamdeep Kaur held a preparatory meeting with the officers of various departments at Dana Mandi today and reviewed the entire arrangements in detail.
During the meeting, a detailed review was made regarding the stage, seating arrangement, parking, traffic management, drinking water, cleanliness, power supply, medical facilities, emergency services, security arrangements and other necessary arrangements at the function venue. The Cabinet Minister and Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officers to ensure that the people attending the function do not face any inconvenience and that all arrangements be completed on time.
Talking to the media on this occasion, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that it is a matter of immense pride and honor for the entire Punjab and especially the people of Sunam to organize a state-level function dedicated to the unparalleled sacrifice of Shaheed Udham Singh at his birthplace. He said that Shaheed Udham Singh made a great contribution to the country’s freedom struggle by avenging the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh and his martyrdom will always be a source of inspiration for the coming generations.
Mr. Aman Arora said that this government function, which started in the year 1993-94 during the time of his father, is celebrated every year with full devotion and respect. He said that no matter which party is in power, the martyrdom of Shaheed Udham Singh has always been remembered with high respect and this tradition is being followed even today with the same devotion.
He said that Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann will be the chief guest in the state-level function to be held on July 31. Apart from this, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, family members of freedom fighters, representatives of various organizations and thousands of people will attend the event.
The Cabinet Minister appealed to all the residents of the area and the people of Punjab to reach Dana Mandi, Sunam Udham Singh Wala in large numbers on July 31 at 11 am to pay their respects to the great martyr and draw inspiration from his great life.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur said that all arrangements are being made by the district administration for the successful completion of the event. She said that a preparatory meeting was held with the officers of various departments today and each department has been assigned its responsibility and all the arrangements have been reviewed in detail.
The Deputy Commissioner said that during the event, adequate arrangements are being made for traffic management, parking, security, health services, drinking water, sanitation and other basic amenities so that people coming from far and wide do not have to face any inconvenience. He said that the district administration is making all necessary arrangements to conduct the event in a memorable and smooth manner.
He appealed to all the people to participate in large numbers on this historic occasion to pay their tributes to the great martyr Udham Singh and contribute in passing on the sacrifices made for the country’s independence to the new generation.
