Haryana power employees and engineers  announced a three-day strike from  August 10 after talks with the management of power distribution and transmission companies failed to yield any assurance on their key demands.

Following the complete breakdown of high-level negotiations, Haryana’s electricity workers and engineers are set to launch a statewide 72-hour strike tonight at 10 PM. The deadlock occurred at Shakti Bhawan during a meeting led by Energy Department Additional Chief Secretary Ashima Brar, where management stated that the key policy demands fell strictly under the state government’s jurisdiction rather than utility boards. The Haryana Electricity Employees and Engineers Joint Struggle Front accused the management of backtracking on prior promises made by the Power Minister.
The upcoming walkout centers heavily on union resistance to smart meter rollouts, the proposed creation of an agricultural distribution company, parallel licenses, and unresolved labor grievances including contract worker regularization, equal pay scales, risk allowances, and relaxed rules for compassionate employment schemes.
