Patiala, August 4:
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal held a meeting with the officers of various departments regarding the preparations for the district level function of Independence Day on August 15 and reviewed the arrangements. During this, he directed that all the forms regarding the awards of the personalities to be honored on the occasion of Independence Day should be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office by August 10.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this time the Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy Development and Food Processing, Mr. Gurmit Singh Khudiyan will attend the district level Independence Day function as the chief guest and will perform the ceremony of hoisting the national flag.
He said that after hoisting the flag, the Cabinet Minister will inspect the parade to be held by the troops of Punjab Police, Home Guard, NCC and Scouts, will give his message to the people of Punjab and will take salute from the march past.
Dr. Himanshu Agarwal said that during the event, personalities and freedom fighters who have rendered commendable services in various fields will be honored. Apart from this, the District Red Cross Society will also distribute tricycles and sewing machines to the needy.
He said that to make the event colorful, choreography based on Giddha, Bhangra and patriotic songs will be presented by students of various schools and colleges.
Commissioner Municipal Corporation Pooja Sial, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuprita Johal and officers of various departments were also present during the meeting.
