Ludhiana: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is on a visit to Ludhiana today. During this, he will lay the foundation stone of a modern compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Haibowal Dairy Complex in the city. This plant will be built at a cost of about Rs 65 crore.
According to the information, about 435 dairy owners of the area will directly benefit from this project. About 300 tonnes of cattle dung will be disposed of in the plant every day in a scientific and environment-friendly manner. This will help in reducing the problem of dirt and pollution caused by dairies’ waste.
After the plant is fully operational, it is expected to produce about 5 tonnes of compressed biogas (CBG) every day. Along with this, there will be proper utilization of cattle dung and it can be converted into a useful source of energy.
This project will also help in curbing the pollution caused by the waste products of the dairies in and around the Budha Nallah of Ludhiana city. The government is considering this plant as an important step towards environmental protection and scientific management of dairy waste.
