Chandigarh: August 6, 2026 : Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains today presented his stand on issues related to education in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha with facts and figures. During the discussion, he said that the post of Education Minister is not just a government responsibility for him, but a mission to strengthen the future of Punjab.
Harjot Singh Bains said, “I am the first Education Minister who proudly says that I am proud to be the Education Minister. For me, this is not just a position, but a responsibility for the future of Punjab.”
He said in the House that he has never used derogatory words for anyone. In his words, “God has given us both a tongue and a brain to think.” He said that it is the duty of every public representative to maintain the dignity and respect of language in public life.
The Education Minister also said that the people of Punjab know how teachers were treated earlier and even today some members of the opposition use such terminology which is not appropriate. However, he made it clear that he does not want to be a part of such politics.
He said that his only aim is to provide quality education opportunities to every youth of Punjab, to give due respect to every teacher and to include the education system of Punjab among the best education systems not only in the country but also in the world.
During his address in the Vidhan Sabha, Bains also mentioned the reforms in the education sector and the initiatives of the government and said that the government’s focus is on continuously improving the quality of education.
