During the special function on the conclusion of the special self-defense training workshop conducted for girls under the ‘Chetna Project’ led by the Punjab Government, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal attended as the chief guest and distributed certificates to the girls who completed the training.
‘Chetna Project’ is an important initiative of the Patiala District Administration, the main objective of which is to instill physical strength, self-confidence and a sense of self-defense in girls. This project has been undertaken in joint collaboration with the District Employment and Entrepreneurship Bureau Patiala and the District Sports Officer Patiala.
During the function, Dr. Himanshu Agarwal, while interacting with the girls who received the training, said that
Self-defense is not just about learning physical tactics, but it is a means of building morale, self-confidence and fearlessness. The main objective of the Chetna project is to ensure that every girl of Patiala feels safe, empowered and capable of facing every challenge.
The trained girls thanked the district administration and said that through this camp they have got a golden opportunity to learn modern martial arts and self-defense techniques free of cost.
The District Sports Officer said that this initiative has received an overwhelming response from the local people. More than 80 girls had registered during the orientation camp, out of which a selected batch successfully completed the training. Seeing this remarkable success, the district administration is planning to start more batches under ‘Project Chetna’ in the coming days.
